| Affirm United works through education and social integration to welcome diverse peoples, especially for the inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons in the life and work of the church. This national group is a worship, pastoral, prophetic community celebrating biblical and theological liberation. Methods of achieving this is through the Affirming Ministry and Emerging Spirit programs. Affirm is composed of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities (LGBTQ and questioning, friends, family and allies) and so it is open to all people who support these goals.
At Sunnybrook United Church, our group includes a monthly fellowship meeting or social event, and the Affirming Ministry Study Program (visit www.affirmunited.ca for national info). |

| This young congregation is an open and welcoming community. We meet in a school gym right in the downtown core of a rapidly developing urban/suburban area. We believe that among other things, a Christian way of life expresses gratitude and care for God's creation, honours the presence of God in the lives of people regardless of sexual orientation, and supports families in raising children in a faith based in the love of God made known to us in Jesus. From our beginnings we have been blessed by the gifts for community of a number of children with special needs and their families. We expect the unexpected. |

| At Chalice the questions are as important as answers. No one will tell you what you must believe, but we dare to ask each other the hard questions and then listen. We like to reason together. We are committed to a radical hospitality, welcoming all people as children of God. No exceptions. We are a young congregation with our feet solidly planted in the world. We are actively involved in local and world outreach ministries: we built two wells in Africa; carry water to stations on the Arizona/Mexico border for immigrants crossing the desert; have resettled five refugee families in the Phoenix area (from Vietnam, Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia, Burma); monthly prepare and serve a meal in a local soup kitchen. We are building, and about to move into, the first building that will be our own. In our own space, we will have expanded opportunities to develop ways of being the presence of the Christ in the world. |

| All Saints Church is a large, inclusive, urban, liberal-spirited Episcopal church deeply committed to issues of social peace and justice and to the spirit of creativity in all aspects of life. We claim a long history of living out that commitment as a community of people on a journey of faith struggling, searching and singing their way toward what God is calling them to be.
All Saints is a place where people are encouraged in that community to strive for health and wholeness in their lives and in the lives of their brothers and sisters everywhere. It is a place of healing and comfort; of inspiration and challenge. It is a launching platform for the healing and caring of the world -- for partnering with God in the work of turning the human race into the human family. Whoever you are and wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith you are welcome to come to the center of life at All Saints Church.

| MISSION: To Make Disciples who strive for transformation
We are a missional church that invites people into relationship with Jesus Christ and provides a pathway for discipleship that is focused on service to the world.
VISION: TO BRING ABOUT THE ?KINDOM? OF GOD
We use the term ?Kindom of God? to put the emphasis on the everyday miracles that stem from our inherent kinship with one another and with God in Jesus Christ. While we recognize that Jesus spoke of a Kingdom that is to come;
By his life and teachings, Jesus began to live the ?Kindom? of God as he went about his daily life. We seek to do the same. ALL ARE WELCOME.

At the center of our community's faith tradition is Jesus the Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection exemplify for us the nature and meaning of God's love. The life of this community and the hope that we feel have more to do with God's faithfulness to us than ours to God.
We of Dumbarton represent various religious and cultural backgrounds, and many different lifestyles. We are young, old, middle-aged; gay, straight, and transgendered; single, married, partnered, widowed and divorced; parents, grandparents, and assembled families.
Above all, we are people who take risks, make mistakes, confess, repent, and try again!
Whoever you are...whatever your history, your scars, your gifts...come as you are!
We welcome all people and have been a Reconciling Congregation since 1986 seeking to be in ministry with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered persons and their families and to work for the inclusion of all in the United Methodist Church.
We work and pray for peace, we study and practice active nonviolence, support nuclear disarmament, and are commited to working for peace in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world.
We support local and global missions addressing world hunger; poor farmers and immigrants in the US; women's rights, health and nutrition, and development of small buisnesses in Nicaragua; youth empowerment in Honduras; hunger, school enrichment, homelessness and affordable housing in DC--with our active participation as well as financial gifts. We covenant with missionaries in the Congo and Nicaragua and have sponsored mission trips to Nicaragua, El Salvador, and New Orleans. Our facilities are wheelchair accessible. |

Our mission statement is:
We are an emergent Christian community who is reimagining the way we follow the path of Jesus in the 21st century. Together, we seek to be in conversation and action towards God's dream of Justice, Mercy, and Discipleship. |

| Our hope is that as you partner in our journey, you will at least occasionally experience the living presence of Jesus and that experience will help you to see the world with different eyes . . . the eyes with which to catch a glimpse of God's dreams for this world. At McPherson Church of the Brethren we believe in the power of the community of faith to come together for moments of Worship that include praise, earnest prayer, thanks giving and challenge. Worship for us is not a performance, but involves participation. While we seek to give our best to God, we recognize that God does not need our perfection, only our faithfulness which extends well beyond one hour on a Sunday morning. We invite you into that grace-filled life! |

Today the church serves a changing neighborhood with a commitment to both preserve and change. We are involved with the elementary and middle school in numerous ways; we are proactively welcoming new persons moving into the neighborhood; we are struggling to move from the "church that is no more" to the "church that will be" a vital presence in the neighborhood. No matter who you are. No matter where you are on life's journey, you are welcome at Christ Church. |

| Can you imagine what would happen if a group of people with untold resources, passion and energy started asking the question, "How do we hear the cry of the oppressed?" What if they were actually willing to wade into the cultural, economic, racial, global and personal issues involved without fear, with the confidence that no matter how painful, messy and volatile it got, Jesus would guide them the whole way? You'd have some church on your hands.
We want to steward our human, spiritual, technical and financial resources into some timebound, measurable goals. By working toward these goals, we hope to become more like Jesus through caring about the things that he cares about. (http://www.marshill.org/believe/xyz.php) |

| Welcome
to La Mesa, a congregation of
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
where
... GOD IS WORSHIPED ...
The word is preached; music, art and candles bring our senses to worship. We are fed at the table, supporting who and whose we are. Young disciples experience worship as a part of the community. Our worship space expresses the message of God’s love, and our love for one another. La Mesa church is filled with energy and personal caring; the newcomer is welcomed into the community. With each new visitor or member we are changed and become a new worshipping community – each walking our own path, but walking together.
...BARRIERS ARE BROKEN DOWN ...
An intentional outreach to the Native American community and to the neighborhood around us is growing our church community in ways that enrich us and reveal God’s will to us. Our food pantry addresses immediate needs while, social and economic justice issues are identified and confronted. As one of our neighbors observed at our annual Street Festival, "You sure know how to have a party." Music of many cultures and styles are a part of our worship. Our young people are leaders as well as our elders. Hospitality is extended to all; we are all drawn into God’s work, always leaving space to share in new and old ways.
... COMMUNITY IS CREATED ...
A faithful and joyful community grows out of worship and play. La Mesa church hosts an annual Summer Soiree and Street Festival. Learning and working together forms bonds. La Mesa offers youth and family retreats, fellowship and bible study, movies and discussions, and forums for sharing neighborhood concerns. Keeping the church clean and repaired and available for use by our neighbors expresses our love of God and community. Justice and compassion are lived out in our involvement with the Thanksgiving Feast of Hope, Albuquerque Opportunity Center, Project Share, and the La Mesa Samaritan Fund. Our community extends from Albuquerque to as far as Cuba, from our church to the General Assembly of the PC(U.S.A.)
... CHILDREN ARE NURTURED ...
Our collaboration with La Mesa elementary school and African refugee children has enriched our fellowship and enhanced our after school arts academy and kids club outreach. Children from elementary through high school are encouraged to participate in worship and community (and global) service activities.
.. AND ALL WHO COME ARE FED ...
Serving God in this Community

We are open and affirming, multiracial, economically diverse, and grateful for excellent Biblical preaching and music. We still own and operate the oldest coed elementary school in NYC - the Alexander Robertson School - founded long before public education was instituted. The school is the most racially and economically diverse elementary school in NYC. We are interested in beginning an interfaith - Christian, Jewish, Muslim - initiative. Our softball team, The Mighty Scots, boasts the most pediatric cardiologists of any Presbyterian softball team in New York, and it's a lot of fun.. | Today, Green Street Church is alive and thriving, with 250+ members. With two services each Sunday, one in English and another in Spanish, the congregation reflects the make-up of the West Salem neighborhood?White, African American, and Hispanic; the affluent, the middle class, and the poor; educated and uneducated. As columnist Nat Irvin wrote: At Green Street, there are old folks, middle aged, and young. Blacks, Latinos, gays and straights, and blended families, too. People with tattoos, Mohawks and dreadlocks. Some in college, some with Ph.D.s, M.D.s, no Ds, the do-wells and the we-all-need-to-do-betters. Some wear suits, but most do not. While the congregation?s programs feature activities common to many churches (a weekly supper with the neighborhood, Sunday School for all ages, softball practice, youth retreats, Sunday in the Park, jazz concerts, and weekly worship), at Green Street these activities are enriched through an encounter with diversity. Green Street is seeking an authentic expression of what it means to be a church in the world, a community of shalom: growing in connection to God and one another, while finding ways to put faith in action through ministries of justice and compassion. Seeking Shalom is a journey in three directions: inward, outward and together.
Inviting Worship: The Journey of Community
During any given Sunday worship service, one can hear celebrations of a year of sobriety, grief over brokenness in their family, thanksgiving for a new job, and anxious pleas for support during a time of illness. A call and response peppers the liturgy: ?God is good!? ?All the Time!? or occasionally ?Dios es Bueno!? ?Siempre!? Children find a place to express their natural encounter with God through art and music. Echoes of our prophetic call to feed the hungry and clothe the naked and to challenge powers and principalities can be heard each week. With a local following, Sabbath Indigo, a community of professional musicians provides a fresh form of music playing traditional hymns in a bluesy grind, or an offertory rattling rhythm as the drumsticks hit the radiator, or a spiritual played with swing. The service is a blended service of high church liturgy with free church energy mixed all together with the sounds of jazz.
Transforming Individuals: The Inward Journey
With a call of transforming ourselves into disciples of Jesus Christ, our community encounter must also take root in individual transformation. Through Bible study, book discussion, twelve-step wisdom, and spiritual formation groups, people place themselves in the pathway of the Spirit, getting ready to become servant leaders, embodying Shalom for a world crying out in need.
Serving the World: The Outward Journey
Through the ministries of The Shalom Project, faith-based activism with CHANGE (Communities Helping All Neighbors Gain Empowerment), confronting institutional racism with the Winston-Salem Institute for Dismantling Racism, a global warming task force evaluating our own use of energy, Green Street calls all people to the work of love and justice. We are called to respond to God?s Grace with action and spur social change?as individuals and community?by cooperating with God?s work in the world.

| We are a Christian "house church" of some 40 members and sojourners.
We seek to let our life together take the form of the "ekklesia" (assembly or gathering) of the followers of Jesus described in the New Testament--a people called together by God to bear witness to the non-violent cross of Christ as the key to God's kin-dom. We bear this witness through our shared life, public proclamation, loving service and non-violent political resistance.
We welcome into our fellowship all whom God sends to share in our daily life and ministry, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation social or economic status or any other culturally defined differences.
We are headquartered at the 18th Ave Peace House, a large residential facility whose residents are devoted to Christian community (sharing all things in common), hospitality, peacemaking, and support for persons who are grieving because of personal loss.

All of our life--our life together and our life of service--emerges from the presence of Christ whom we discover among us when we celebrate the Eucharist every Sunday. Our liturgy is the heart of our corporate life. It is here that we see and touch and taste and hear God's outrageous promises and, in response, embrace God's outrageous demands. Our outreach ministries include scholarships (for children who could not afford a preschool education) at our inner city Montessori school, an AIDS Outreach program, and a food bank. |

| Mosaic has a vision to live within the creative imagination of God. As we see it, that means embracing Christ, embracing one another in Community, and embracing the rest of Creation. Nothing gets pushed out except for the resistance of His dream. We know it's messy, that's life, but there is Good News! God is for us ...
Jim pastors a transitional church on its way into a spiritually postmodern world. After eight years of journey, they believe they're on a good path. A relational paradigm informs their theology and practice. Mosaic is probably best described as an Emerging Church (cf. Brian McLaren).
Jim and his wife, Lynda, have three girls: Abby (12), Megan (10), & Emma (8). Along with one hamster, one cat, and one Cocker/Springer Spaniel, they make their home in Seguin, Texas.

| For several years, The Rock United Methodist Church, a new church in Cedar Park, has worked hard at being a "green" church. In the final stages of completing its first building, it has ramped up its efforts to a new level.
When The Rock launched its first building project in February 2004, it did not have a traditional "ground breaking" ceremony. The congregation had a "land blessing." The innovative service (now posted on the United Methodist Church's Worship Resources web page at http://www.gbod.org/worship/default.asp?act=reader&item_id=10747&loc_id=962,90) affirmed the church's intention to practice stewardship of the land, as well as the building, as a special trust from God.
Following up on those intentions, The Rock left most of the property with its original tree and native grass cover.
Only the areas for the building, drives, and parking were cleared with equipment. In the remaining area, the lower branches and undergrowth have been thinned selectively, as needed, by hand, to provide needed lines of sight, to preserve plant variety, and to enhance the growth of the best specimen trees.
The cleared brush for the most part has been chipped on site for mulching the planting beds and specimen trees, and to create mulch berms for storm water control and infiltration.
Topsoil was stockpiled and has been redistributed to landscape areas after construction was completed.
Where planting has been needed for erosion control, in landscape islands of parking lots, and for visibility barriers required by code, the church has used drought-tolerant, deer-resistant plants almost everywhere, and native plants where practical.
A drip irrigation system for the required visibility barrier hedge is the only watering system installed.
The building has been guttered and fitted with rainwater harvesting lines. A set of large rainwater storage tanks is planned to provide all future site irrigation needs, primarily for a garden for food donations.
The building design incorporates many green features as well, including a steel frame and shell (recycled materials), extra insulation, and a concrete floor.
From the time it met in a middle school, it has used washable mugs and cups for Sunday morning beverages. it has served organic, fair-trade coffee. It has been recycling its worship programs and other paper and cardboard, as well as cans and bottles from its office and kitchen. Coffee grounds and food scraps are fed to chickens and/or composted. In the new church building, the restrooms offer cloth hand towels. Fluorescent lighting has been used in all fixture types.
In 2006, National Public Radio featured interviews and a report from The Rock as an example of churches concerned about care for creation.

| We exist to Love God and Love our Neighbors, locally, regionally, nationally and globally. Worship informs everything that takes place in and through this church. Partnering with others in the faith and service communities to work towards meeting the needs of the least of these is part of our ethos as a body.
The Well, our young adult ministry, is a network of small groups around the city. We believe in growing relational gardens where individuals can blossom individually and collectively, respecting the dynamics and seasons of life which we all experience.
Life isn't always pretty and the church shouldn't stage a superficial contentedness just to draw a crowd. The Word is not a pill, it is a light. Worship is a lifestyle, not an event. In community there is freedom to grow at a natural pace and desperately seek the truth together. |
